Tip of the Day #2Using the rear leg round kick
The focus of today’s Tip of the Day is on the use of the rear leg round kick.
One of the most common errors I see in students is they do not rotate their body enough through their intended target when they use this kick. What happens is they end up leaving a lot of power outside and away from the target.
To fix this problem, it will be important that you focus on three things when you use this kick:
1. Spin on the ball of the foot of the supporting leg (e.g. as a right handed kicker I spin on my left foot).
2. Turn the heel of the supporting leg so much that it points towards the intended target.
3. Point the line of your shoulders and hips at – or preferably through – the intended target.
